The 37th annual Game Fair concluded Sunday, Aug. 19 after six rain-free days and a flurry of activity the second weekend of the event.
That’s when the duck- and goose-calling contests were held, along with the dog event finals, the 100-yard archery contest finals, and a political debate between Minnesota’s gubernatorial candidates Tim Walz and Jeff Johnson. The crowds also turned out in higher numbers the second weekend, much to the delight of the hundreds of exhibitors on hand.
Game Fair owner and operator Chuck Delaney was pleased with another great event and hoped everybody who was part of it had a great time.
“We put a lot of work into making Game Fair fun for the entire family and it always makes me very happy when it goes smoothly – it was a great time,” he said.
The 2019 Game Fair is scheduled for Aug. 9-11 and and Aug. 16-18. Get the latest on Game Fair in Minnesota Outdoor News or by visiting www.GameFair.com
In the 100-yard Archery Challenge, a hefty number of archers qualified for the final round on Sunday, with the top spot going to Jack Averill. He received $500 for his long distance archery skills along with other prizes. Second place and $300 went to Jared Hood and third place plus $200 to Logan Procai.
In the finals of the dog events, this year’s obstacle course saw a tight field of six dogs competing. Representing winners from each of the six days of Game Fair, during the finals there was only a 12-second difference between first and sixth place. In the end, it was Ron Bakken’s Lab Rugar in first with a time of 35.40 seconds.
