Any advice for a solo trekker in Sequoia, Kings Canyon & Yosemite?

I’m going to be there for the last 2 weeks of September this year and any advice would be much appreciated. I’m on my own, but have a good idea of some good day hikes and I’m experienced with trekking, but if anyone has any tips they wish they knew before they went that would be great. Any hidden gems? Or any advice for avoiding some of the crowds.

Some questions I have already:

Cheap places to stay near sequoia/KC? I probably won’t be camping but I also don’t mind driving an hour or so at each end of the day. Any towns nearby with motels/hostels? Is it legal/advisable to sleep in my car?

What are the bugs like this time of year? Will I be likely to need repellent?

I’ve trekked in Canada before but I’ve never come across any dangerous wildlife except moose. I assume just follow the normal rules but is there anything specific I should know?

Any specific laws or rules of the park that aren’t likely to be advertised elsewhere I should know?

Thanks in advance
