Own a Cabin? You Need BioLite’s $200 Solar Light Kit.

BioLite makes some of the most innovative solar and heat-powered gear on the market. If the name doesn’t ring a bell, it’s the brand behind the wood-burning camp stove that doesn’t emit smoke and the pizza maker that can charge your phone. Its latest product, the Solar Prep Pack ($200) is more like nine products in one. The pack is a fully integrated solar lighting system that can keep a car, campsite, or cabin illuminated and your phone charged when you’re off the grid.

The pack includes a six-watt roof-mounted solar panel, three palm-size LED lanterns that can stand on the floor or hang from the ceiling, and four desk-size mini lights. A shoebox-size controller unit stores energy, controls the lights, has two USB ports to charge your devices, and gives you readouts of the battery status and sun strength on an integrated LCD screen. Is it a full-featured solar array? No, but it’s foolproof to set up and extremely affordable.

The Pack is really just a combination of products that exist separately in BioLite’s solar line, so you can buy them individually. But splurge for all of them and you’ll save $50.
