Wolf Creek for the Win! Ski Resort Will Open This Weekend https://ift.tt/2Enzyhs

Thanks to a big early-season snowstorm, Wolf Creek Ski Resort will be the first Colorado resort to open in 2018.

In Colorado, there seems to be a perennial rivalry between Arapahoe Basin and Loveland Resort for “first resort open” bragging rights. But this week, a dark horse came out on top: Wolf Creek.

Located in the southwestern corner of Colorado, Wolf Creek is regularly one of the snowiest resorts in the state. It averages about 480 inches of fluffy pow each year. And it got off to a very early start this season.

A storm, still pummeling Colorado, already dumped 20 inches on the resort. Thus, it reported on Facebook today that it will be open on Saturday, Oct. 13, and Sunday, Oct. 14.

It will remain open (weekends only) for the foreseeable future until more snow makes full operations viable.

At the opening, three lifts will serve the mountain. Treasure Stoke, Bonanza, and Nova lifts will spin with “very early season conditions and obstacles,” the resort reported.

Lift tickets to access Treasure, Bonanza, and Nova will be $50 for adults, $33 for seniors, and $27 for children.

The lifts give skiers decent access, with some top-to-bottom skiing. Much terrain will remain closed under the super-early-season conditions.

So if your stoke is high for some lift-served skiing, Wolf Creek is howling.
