This is a repost from r/travel
This summer, I have the opportunity to go to Crater Lake NP, Olympic NP/Mt. Rainer NP, or Zion NP/Grand Canyon NP. All cost roughly the same amount of money, and all will take place for 5 days at the end if August.
For the Crater Lake NP I would fly in and out of Portland and drive to the park.
For the Olympic NP/Mt. Rainier NP, I would fly into Portland and fly out of Seattle and drive to both locations. (As an aside, I went to Rainier last summer, but did not get to go to Olympic)
For Grand Canyon NP and Zion NP, I would fly in and out of Las Vegas and also drive to both locations.
All trips include a good amount of driving, with the Crater Lake NP trip having the most driving at around 11 hours and the others averaging out to 9 hours of driving each. I am worried about the heat in August for the Grand Canyon/Zion trip and I am concerned with the amount of driving to and from Crater Lake, but I am open to any of these trips and I want to go to all of them equally.
Which trip would you recommend? Which NP took your breath away/left you in awe the most?
